I
have oftened wondered where the name "Bowkers" came from. After
searching, I have found:
Elizabeth Oranna* GLENN Birth: ABT 1758 in Virginia Death: AFT 1794
Father: Nathan GLENN b: ABT 1735 in Hanover
County, Virginia
Mother: Lucy COLEMAN b: ABT 1735
Marriage
Major Bird BOWKER b: ABT 1756 in Cumberland County, Virginia
Oranna and Bird had seven children.
Several moved to Gadsen County, Florida.
Nathan Glenn and James Glenn,
Hannah's father, were brothers. Oranna and Hannah were first
cousins. Oranna died about the time of Martha's birth. Now,
if I can find where the name "Oranna" came from.....
Oranna had a brother named William Coleman Glenn. His daughter, Lucy,
married Oranna's son, Achilles Bowkers. Achilles sister, Grace
Martha, married a Hopkins.
